Knots, Weights and Tuning the Rapala Lure Rapala Knot
• The Rapala Knot allows the lure to swim the way it was designed to
• It suits perfectly well both nylon and braided lines

1. Tie an overhand knot. Leave 15 cm free end.
2. Run free end through the eyelet and back through the overhand knot, leaving it 1-2 cm away from the eyelet - do not draw too tight yet!
3. Wrap free end around standing part of line 3 times.
4. Run free end back through overhand knot.
5. Pass free end through loop that is formed.
6. Moisten line and draw up tight. Trim excess.
The Improved Clinch knot
• This Knot is perfect when fishing with Husky, Husky Jerk, Deep Running Shad Rap, Fat Rap, Rattlin' Rapala, Countdown Magnum, Sliver and Blue Fox lures [See all Rapala Lures]
1. Run line through eyelet (when using braided lines, run free end TWICE through). Leave 15cm free end. Wrap free end around standing part of line 4-6 times. Pass free end through the loop attaching to the split ring and through the loop that is formed.
2. Moisten line and draw up tight. Trim excess.
Additional Weights
• Each Rapala lure is designed to run at a certain depth
• When you want to achieve extra depth, split shot should be placed at least 20 cm ahead of the lure
• When using heavier weights, place them at least 50 cm ahead
• If using a three-way swivel, a leader is recommended
Tuning the Rapala Lure
• You can modify the action of the Rapala lure by adjusting the eyelet as indicated below
• Check the action of your lure at regular intervals, especially after a battle with big predator, or after a bottom snag, to check the alignment of the hooks
• A displaced hook can be corrected with Rapala Steel Pliers
• Rapala lures are finely tuned and even the slightest change will be noticeable - test your lure after even the smallest adjustment
• If your lure is not tracking true, veering off to one side, follow the instructions given here:
1. Bend nose ring upward to obtain livelier swimming action or downward to obtain slower action.
2. If lure swims on one side, adjust by bending nose ring to the same side. Do not overbend!
3. If your Deep Runner tends to "lean over", bend nose ring to the same side, until lure swims correctly. Do not bend the plastic lip!
